KOKOkids / Mascot Turtle Tartaruga
The turtle is a symbol of Cape Verde and it is precisely this that inspired me to design this toy. My name is Magda and in my batik manufactory I spent many hours preparing a pattern for a turtle and a linocut stamp with a turtle motif. The toy you are about to see was created by combining these two processes. I hope you like it ... I worked long hours on each toy - linocut is time consuming, but the results can be very effective. I think the turtle would love to move in with you! It can be a decoration for your home or a friendly mascot.
I would also like to draw your attention to the button that I sewed on the toy - it makes the turtle look even more beautiful and that its paw is flexible. Now I'll tell you why I designed this toy in the first place. This is my contribution to the Jeans for a better world campaign, which aims to support the girls in Cape Verde. All the proceeds from the sale of these toys will go to these schoolgirls. The Jeans for a better world campaign was launched to help the girls in Cape Verde.
And now I'll tell you what all these toys are made of. Each turtle was designed from recycled jeans, or more precisely from their pant legs. After cutting fabric and stuffing the ecological filling inside, I got into linocut. Linocut is a graphic technique in which the motif (in our case a beautiful silhouette of a turtle) is carved out of the surface of a sheet of linoleum with a sharp knife. The motif on the printing plate is rolled over with paint and then printed by hand on the denim.
